Well, here it is. It looks like the time has finally come for me to have a real blog. Gone are the days of xanga or facebook posts, thanks to one goodly Sir Thomas Keene. Thanks a million Tommy. Sipping Gulden Draak and popping jalapeno poppers is definitely the best way to set up a blog, even if it did take a shade more than the boasted 5 minutes. It felt like I hardly had to do anything at all. Oh, wait. I did do hardly anything at all.

So what do I want this blog thing to be? Well I’m glad you asked. I’ve been wanting to make something like this for more than 8 years now, which is long before I ever heard the word “blog”. What I have really wanted was a place where I could put down my thoughts in a readable and readily accessible form - one that was better than my composition notebook journals, which I have almost given up using altogether. I wanted to be able to quickly write down any important ideas (from myself or others), good quotes, and anything else valuable, and then be able to access or present them in a variety of ways. Well the technology has finally filtered down to my level of competency for me to create what I wanted, even though what I’m talking about now is no longer a novelty to most.

I have some more specific ideas about what I want this thing to be, which I will implement as I figure out how to make them happen under the kind tutelage of Tommy (who has a much sweeter blog and who really knows what he’s doing).

I guess that I’m hoping for this blog really to be as much for my own journaling use as for interacting with others, so there will probably be a number of posts that I’ll leave unpublished. But whatever I do publish, I would be most pleased for anyone to make comments, and even to discuss topics back and forth with one another.

Anyway, I’m rambling and barely awake. This is a pretty sorry first blog entry, but it will have to do.
